Boston Globe Panel: Climate Stewardship in Gen Alpha

Updated: Nov 14

I wanted to share the link to the panel, “Climate Stewardship in Gen Alpha,” organized by The Boston Globe and sponsored by the Museum of Science in Boston.

I served as a panelist alongside Ann Ward, the Education and Outreach Specialist at Tufts’s Office of Sustainability, and we were moderated by Kara Baskin, a correspondent at The Boston Globe.

In this panel, we discuss the growing urgency of the climate crisis, and in particular, how youth and Gen Alpha have a uniquely motivated approach to climate change. As a teenager myself, I will definitely agree that at times the climate crisis can seem overwhelming. The knowledge that my generation will inherit this planet seems frightening, and even frustrating at times. However, I also continue to remind myself that there is such a large and powerful community of individuals who are combatting this issue, and that technologies such as electric vehicles and clean energy are becoming more and more common. With that being said, there is so much overlap between the issue of climate change and the various STEM Fields — direct air capture, fusion and fission energy, and the engineering of more efficient batteries to name a few. I believe we can continuing refining and implementing these technologies, soon leading to true impact.
